Coaches Handout/Schedule of Events

Hello Coaches:

On Saturday October 24th the Vince Fedor Lackawanna League Junior High Cross Country Championship Meet will be held at Dunmore High School. (Rain, Snow, or Shine). There will be no make-up date.

Arriving, Dropping Off, Parking and Departure.
When your teams arrive, they will unload from their buses behind the High School, at which time the bus drivers will be directed to park their buses across the road in the elementary school parking lot.

Teams are able to arrive 45 minutes prior to the start of their Division Races. If teams arrive more than 45 minutes early, they will be instructed to remain on their buses.

Teams must leave the Mountain View Campus no later than 15 minutes before the beginning of the next Division races.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to Governor Wolfe’s restrictions and guidelines established by the Mountain View School District, NO SPECTATORS ARE ALLOWED.

The Race Day Schedule

Race 1 – Division 2 Girls @ 9:00 AM

Race 2 – Division 2 Boys @ 9:45 AM

Race 3 – Division 1 Girls @ 10:30 AM

Race 4 – Division 1 Boys @ 11:15 AM

Race 5 – Division 3 Girls @ 12:00 PM

Race 6 – Division 3 Boys @ 12:45 PM

There will be no “B” Race.

Each School is permitted to register up to twelve (12) runners (and one alternate) for each race.

A maximum of 4 coaches is allowed.

Previewing the Course: PLEASE NOTE: There will be no opportunity to walk the course. Course maps will be given to coaches upon arrival. A lead vehicle (golf cart or ATV etc.) will provide leadership throughout the race.

Spikes: Runners may wear either racing flats or racing spikes up to a maximum ¾” spikes.

Medals and Trophies. There will be NO Awards Ceremony. The top 15 runners in each race will receive their medals at the finish line. The top two teams in each race will receive their trophies before they leave the Mountain View Campus.


Scoring and Timing. We will be using Wil-Time Event Management for our timing for this year’s Meet with disposable Chips which will not need to be returned. Note: Chips must correspond to the proper runner and must be attached as instructed at the Meet.

Registration: All entries must be submitted online via the internet. Coaches will go to the link: http://pa.milesplit.com (It is available now through October 21). Please do not use all capital letters or small letters. Type the name as it should be; example Joe Smith. Detailed instructions will be on the website. You must have a valid email address. Entry information will close on October 21, 2020 @ 5:00pm EST.

Race results will be posted on the Wil-Time website and on the milesplit site. Paper copies will not be distributed. Results of races will be posted as they become available.

The link for entries is http://pa.milesplit.com and is available now. Once you are on the website, go to the main menu. Log in. Go to the calendar and locate our Jr. High League Meet and enter your runners. Accuracy of names and gender is critical. If your 9th grade runners were on the Varsity Team, they are not eligible to run this Meet.

REMEMBER: Entry information will close on October 21, 2020 @ 5:00pm EST.

Race Packets and Payments.
Coaches will be given packets when they arrive, these packets will include course maps, starting zone assignments, and Chips for each runner. Checks can be brought the day of the meet and turned into Coach Mitchell.

This year the checks need to be made out to the LIAA and must include the memo "Junior High Cross Country League Meet". The price will be $65.00 per team, or $125.00 if you have both a boys’ and a girls’ team participating. Even if you have one runner you must pay the entry for an entire team.

Start Line, Finish Chute, Distance: The starting line will be clearly marked. Runners should be at the starting line 10 minutes before the start of their race. The finish chute will be on the track. Upon coming through the chute, runners will be directed to exit through a side gate by the bleachers. Only coaches and officials will be permitted on the track and interior field during the races. The distance of the race course is 1.85 miles.

Additional Information: We are invited guests of Mountain View High School and its Board of Directors. With this in mind:

1. Coaches must take full responsibility for their athletes.

2. Tents will not be allowed to be set up.

3. The track and the soccer field will be off limits for teams warming up and stretching.
4. No Spectators will be permitted on the Campus.

5. No pets are permitted on the Campus.
